Welcome to ShaunaAshlee.com!
Hello, and welcome to my little corner of the internet! My name is Shauna, and I am passionate about helping people achieve their career goals - whatever those may be. I intend to use this space as a place to share my experiences as an HR professional, and hopefully help those who are new (and not so new!) to the workforce navigate any situation they may encounter. Thanks for stopping by!
First of all... who even am I?!
I am a 2008 graduate of Western Illinois University (Go Leathernecks!), where I majored in Family and Consumer Sciences and was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority. I started my career in retail management and landed in Human Resources. I currently live in Chicago, IL (Go Cubs!) with my dog Wrigley. I love food, fashion, and fun fun fun!
That's nice and all, Shauna, but what makes you qualified to dispense career advice?
Great question! I am an award-winning human capital and talent acquisition professional with experience spanning several years and multiple industries, including companies ranging from small, privately held firms to publicly traded Fortune 100 organizations. My areas of expertise include strategic sourcing, relationship building, talent management, driving diversity, veteran, and Millennial hiring initiatives, and social media recruitment. I am currently a Corporate Recruiter for a leader in the building materials industry, where I work across multiple lines of business and with candidates ranging from interns to executive-level. I'm probably the only Corporate Recruiter you'll meet that own their own steel-toe boots!
Some pictures of my colleague Abby and I visiting sites!
Sounds great, but what's in it for me?
Glad you asked, friend! It's my hope that the advice I give on this blog can help somebody (anybody!) land their dream job, take that next step in their career, or navigate a tricky situation at work. Please check in weekly for new posts, and feel free to leave a recommendation for a topic you would like to see covered here in the comments!
